Just to answer the implied question… :)

Our ETA is based on the number of average new orders being placed against the current supply schedule and actual occurring deliveries that Axiotron provides us. Supply of the Modbook conversion kits, which come of course exclusively from Axiotron, are the primary factor for our estimated delivery schedule.

I went to the Apple Store last Saturday and got to use the new Nano and I have to say, if I needed something light I’d grab one right now. My wife wants one and after using one this past weekend now she’s bugging me for one.

As for the event, I don’t see why everyone was expecting the world. Large sweeping product revamps only take place at BIG events. Every time Apple holds a special event, it’s for a specific segment of their product line, always has been.

Leave the Major OS news to WWDC and the major product overhauls and new computer releases to MacWorld.

Comm-on peeps show your feathers, We want to hear your stories too!!!!!!!! An aside…. Sadly my main mac is in the shop, so I can’t get a lot of the work that I’m supposed to be doing done. So it looks like I’ll have to play with ArtRage some more, I like the crayon and the unlimited variations with paint. Though I like SKBook Pro too. They also play nice together. I like the line variation in SKBook Pro alittle better but no crayon or pastel or texture. Does anyone realize how much easier (and accraute) it is to print out of the 2 afore mentioned products than painter????

Eric, Love the Steelhouse site, lots of cool things you offer. OK I’ll shut up now.

Thanks Suzi! Eric is a super talented dude, and also quite a gentleman. I was lucky he could fit this in his schedule.

Yup, another ArtRage endorsement! Honestly, I haven’t even fired up Sketchbook in a couple weeks. I am really stuck on the pencil tool in AR now. It’s so much like ACTUALLY sketching it’s crazy! Oh, but with one major upgrade over traditional sketching: undo.

Keep working and sharing your art! Your work is such an inspiration to me!

Great in depth article… wonderful idea Ryan. Eric, you’re one talented dude. I have seen and enjoyed your web comic, I will explore some of you other ventures. I LOVED your “work, work, work” comment, couldn’t agree more. I appreciate doers, movers and shakers! I’ve mentioned before that my life would have been considerably different if I had had Macs and especially the ModBook in my 20’s (Heck, let’s go back to the teens!) You guys are lucky enough to not only see and create with these tools but to think beyond them and come up with potentially new things,

Also one more HUGE plug for Art Rage. I’ve been concentrating on it lately and Painter has fallen to the wayside. The glove is also a must have. I think it makes an interesting fashion statement as I often forget I’m wearing it.

May the art muse always shine upon you both.

Totally underwhelmed, am I. I won’t upgrade my touch, not worth the cash outlay, though I’ve often wanted a built in speaker… I too was hoping for computing stuff, I mean how many iPods can a person own? I don’t even want the fancy iTunes stuff as I’ve spent years developing my song preferences… so no “slick do it for me” thing is needed. Sad. But I suppose the good news is on Axiotron’s side, They won’t have to buy up all macbook stock, for now anyway.

I do hope Apple is still interested in computers, for the rest of us…… One can’t live on music alone. (I suppose I should hop over to the website, incase I missed something… as I’ve gotten this only from You and TUAW!)

I can’t wait, I think iPod only would be kind of boring, new Nano or not. Maybe a Ma mini boost, and I think the MacBook Pros will probably fall closer to the Air. It will be interesting as far as the modbook goes.

Could copy and paste finally make it to the phones and touch? Lately I can’t get my touch to sync calendars and contacts again. This happened before the last iTunes update, so I’m looking forward to getting new versions so I can sync again.

AND Ryan, I’ve been really fooling around in ArtRage, the more I use it, the more I like it. It works so much easier than Painter. It really is like using traditional with out the cleanup (and smell!) I’m looking forward to that upgrade too, if they refine the pen/brush stroke to handle pressure it’ll be near perfect.

nervouschimp I checked out Snatch and I can’t say that I could see myself using it on a regular basis. Granted, I used the free version, but I found it more cumbersome putting down the pen and picking up the iPhone than just using the pen to control the Modbook.

SuziQ I agree! Though I think it’s looking more and more like an iPod only event. If they do talk about new Macbooks, I think we’re going to see really music-centric Macbooks then.

you should check out out the snatch app for iPhone and iPod touch if you want to add some touch functionality to your modbook in the meantime… Turns your iPhone into a multi-touch trackpad/keyboard….
